New Jersey Business and Industry Association Breaks Ground on New Headquarters
The New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA) held a groundbreaking
ceremony in October for its new 23,000 square-foot headquarters in downtown
Trenton. The four-story building features a basement, and will include a lobby and
conference center on the main level. The upper floors will provide space for perimeter
offices with central open landscape areas. The design, which uses sustainable and high efficiency
systems, includes a masonry façade with glass, both horizontal and vertical
curtainwall accents, and ornamental sunscreens. Forty employees will work in the new
building, which is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2013.
NJBIA has been planning its new headquarters for several years. The Trenton site, which
presents construction challenges due to its tight urban setting, allows the Association to
remain a short distance from the New Jersey Statehouse and regulatory agencies.
Torcon, Inc. provided preconstruction services for the project and is currently
overseeing construction. Trenton-based Clarke, Caton, Hintz is project architect.
