Torcon, Inc. Awarded Two Projects by Meridian Health System

Torcon, Inc. has been selected by Meridian Health System to provide construction services at both Ocean Medical Center in Brick, N.J. and Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, N.J. Both projects involved new and expanded emergency facilities.

Torcon is currently providing preconstruction phase CM services to Ocean Medical Center for a 94,000 square foot addition to the existing emergency department. Included in the work is the renovation of the family health center, sitework improvements, and construction of a new three-level enclosure connecting the new facility to the existing hospital. Construction activities will commence in the spring, with a 2013 planned completion.

Construction at Southern Ocean Medical Center recently began. The project will initially involve construction of an addition to the emergency department, followed by the renovation of the existing ED. All work will be completed while allowing full ED operations to continue at full capacity. The project will enable the medical center to handle an increase in patient volume with separate areas for pediatric emergencies and a secure behavioral health emergency department. The new facilities will also feature larger triage and fast-track areas, which will allow for faster response to a variety of emergency situations. The project is scheduled to be completed mid-2013.
