NewsNovember 16, 2007Torcon Receives OSHA VPP Star Recognition
Patricia Clark, OSHA Regional Administrator for Region II, spoke a recent ceremony in Red Bank to officially certify Torcon’s VPP Star. She was joined by Gary Roskoski, Area Director of OSHA’s Marlton office, in presenting Torcon Co-President Ben Torcivia, Jr. with the VPP plaque and the Star flag. VPP promotes safety excellence in working environments. Requirements to obtain VPP Star recognition include management systems and a low rate of injuries, which Torcon has achieved. To date, Torcon has received 19 VPP Stars recognizing its commitment to project safety. “It’s an honor to be recognized by OSHA for our safety achievements here at Torcon,” says Ben Torcivia, Jr. “Our employees’ safety and health is our primary concern. Torcon’s safety program emphasizes communication and education to help employees work safely and create an overall safe work environment. It’s our goal to ensure no one’s well-being will ever be at risk while on the job, in the office or at home.”

Red Bank, N.J. – Torcon, Inc. received VPP Star approval from the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), for its headquarters facility in Red Bank, N.J. Approval into VPP, the Voluntary Protection Programs, is OSHA’s official recognition of sustained achievement in all areas of safety and health. 
VPP Star Program recognition is earned by companies that have achieved injury and illness rates at or below the national average of their respective industries. These work sites are self-sufficient in their ability to control workplace hazards. Star Program participants are reevaluated every three to five years for VPP approval, but still have their incident rates reviewed annually.
