Multipurpose Activity Center
West Long Branch, NJ
Torcon provided comprehensive preconstruction and construction phase CM services for Monmouth University’s new Multipurpose Activity Center.
The Multipurpose Activity Center is a 153,000 sq. ft. facility that features a 4,100 seat arena used for NCAA
basketball and concerts. Overall, the MAC encompasses two basketball courts, a Fitness Center, a 200M
indoor track with jumping pits, locker rooms for all sports, the main campus bookstore, Monmouth’s Hall of
Fame, training rooms, and infrastructure for television and signage.
The multipurpose building is the center and heart of the campus and serves not only the athletes but 90
percent of the 6,000 graduates and undergraduates who are not participants in the 19 NCAA Division I
teams that play at Monmouth. The design of the Center integrates student amenities like a bookstore and
copy center with an athletic arena. The arena space can be set-up to host commencement exercises,
special exhibitions, or as a concert venue. The upper-level of the Center serves as a conference facility with
visitor amenities and private suites. The new arena also benefits recruiting for the school’s men’s and
women’s basketball teams as well as enables Monmouth to host big name colleges in basketball.
