Seton Hall University
South Orange, New Jersey
Torcon has completed a wide variety of projects over the past
fifteen years at Seton Hall University’s South Orange campus.
Our relationship began with a seven-story, 125,000 square-foot
dormitory designed to accommodate 522 students. The dormitory
was completed on a fast-tack, 12-month schedule from design development
to occupancy. The project also included a 155,000 square-foot
recreation center addition to the University’s Walsh Gym
complex. The new building features a NCAA-regulation indoor swimming
pool and a large multipurpose area that can be configured as a
running track, or several basketball/volleyball/tennis courts.
Additional facilities are provided for racquetball, exercise studios
and weight rooms. Both the dormitory and recreation center use
under-building parking.
Torcon subsequently added three new dormitories to the campus, also under fast-track schedules, as well as a new parking structure adjacent to Walsh Gym.
More recently, Torcon added a 120,000 square-foot, six-story academic support building in the center of campus. Jubilee Hall was completed under a design/build contract and was awarded under a design competition with competitive pricing. The building house two levels of classroom space and four levels of departmental offices, plus a 350-seat auditorium with a state-of-the-art audio/video system. All academic spaces were designed with complete computer and multimedia capabilities. Jubilee Hall is also home to SHU’s W. Paul Stillman School of Business, as well as the psychology, public health and education departments. Faculty offices on the upper floors surround an enclosed, three-story high sky-lit courtyard featuring limestone surfaces and a Travertine stairway. A dedicated staff library is also provided.
