Kimball Medical Center
Emergency Department Expansion and Renovation

Torcon oversaw an expansion and restoration program for Kimball Medical Center’s emergency department, outpatient services and pre-admission testing. The project consisted of 20,000 square Feet of interior renovation work and 31,000 square feet of new construction. All work was completed in multiple phases to minimize disruptions and inconveniences to Kimball Medical Center patients, staff and visitors.

The basic flow of the project was to initially reconfigure two parking areas, construct of a temporary emergency department entrance and then focusing on the construction the new building shell and all interior finishes for the new emergency department addition. The parking lot was reconfigured to make way for the new building addition and included a new underground storm drainage recharge system and new underground electrical service. The new emergency department addition includes treatment bays, registration/waiting, ambulance entrance and Psychiatric Emergency Screening Service  unit.
