Projects

The main campus program includes a renovation of Collins Arena, an addition to the Arena for a fitness center and gymnasium, and upgrades to the College’s Automotive Technologies Facility. Torcon will also complete an extensive interior renovation to BCC’s Western Monmouth Higher Education Center in Freehold. Torcon Management Services is providing CM Services to BCC, working with Clarke Caton Hintz and Sink Combs Dethlets as architects.

• Collins Arena
  Adjacent to the existing site of the Collins Arena, Brookdale will build a two-story, 24,000 square-foot Event Center that includes a second-floor, 7,600 square-foot fitness center.   The current Arena will undergo extensive renovation to become one of the region’s premier sports and entertainment centers.
   
• Automotive Technology Center
  The 17,000 square-foot center will undergo renovation and be expanded by 12,000 square feet to double the number of bays and classroom space for automotive instruction.
   
• Western Monmouth Higher Education Center
  The four-story Center at Freehold will be renovated from top to bottom, between February 2009 and January 2010. The first phase of construction will focus on the third and fourth floors and the first-floor Student Success Center.
  During the second phase, the College will reconstruct the first and second floors and install a new heating and air-conditioning system for the 38,000-square-foot facility. The project should yield a 50-percent increase in capacity for classrooms and computer labs.

Concurrent renovation and upgrade of high-containment lab spaces in two occupied facilities. Gut renovation and retrofit of existing labs within Johnson Hall. Extensive work within finished, adjacent areas to run utilities and ductwork. Creation of a new lab facility on the top floor of Stemmler, including eight main holding rooms, airlocks, surrounding specialty rooms and a decontamination chamber. All work conducted around highly sensitive occupied areas. Extensive infrastructure upgrades, with custom-fabricated AHU (20-ft. x 20-ft x 50-ft.) within a new penthouse.
