Brookhaven National Laboratory-National Synchrotron Light Source II
Torcon is general contractor for the conventional facilities portion of the NSLS-II, a research facility providing advanced capabilities. NSLS-II will be a new state-of-the-art, medium-energy electron storage ring (3 billion electron-volts) designed to deliver world-leading intensity and brightness, and will produce x-rays more than 10,000 times brighter than the current NSLS. Torcon's work scope includes the 278,000 sq. ft. Ring Building, which will house the accelerator and associated beamlines; the Injection Building, used for the compact booster and linac; an RF Building; and five two-story Service Buildings containing mechanical and electrical equipment.
U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases-Replacement Facility (USAMRIID)
The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) is the nation's premier biodefense laboratory. The new replacement facility encompasses 865,000 sq. ft. of space and will be the world's largest and most complex high-containment medical research facility. It is being designed and constructed as the keystone for the new National Interagency Biodefense Campus (NIBC) at Fort Detrick, Maryland. The facility will provide extensive research lab space at varying levels of containment; lab support facilities and specialty labs; and space for headquarters, administrative and research offices, staff training and conferences.
Rutgers University-Center for Integrative Proteomics Research
New 102,000 sq. ft. academic research building on the University's Piscataway campus. Provides NMR, X-ray crystallography, mass spectrometry, and computational biology resources. The three-story facility will house more than one dozen research groups working both experimentally and computationally in the areas of proteomics, structural biology, and computational biology. Proteomics is a branch of genetics that studies proteins encoded by a genome.
Akorn Pharmaceuticals Facility Expansion
Renovation of 50,000 sq. ft. operating pharmaceutical facility. Primary construction will provide state-of-the-art production facilities and packaging with all new mechanical support (WFI unit, chillers, boilers, compressed air, clean steam generator and HEPA AHU). Renovation includes new ADA entrances, loading docks and structural enhancements for rooftop equipment, as well as to electrical service upgrades, new office space and installation of a new warehouse racking system.
Bristol-Myers Squibb Building 109 PD Laboratory
Renovation of process areas on three floors of an occupied clinical manufacturing building. Relocation of biopharmaceuticals R&D lab and process operations (100 people). Labs, process rooms and offices for small molecule pharmaceutical development. Additional upgrades to mechanical penthouse; replacement of building façade; and new windows.
Pfizer Guayama PNS Program
Program of projects to support Pfizer’s Plant Network Strategy (PNS) to increase the loading and utilization of the manufacturing sites by transferring select manufacturing and packaging operations. This program consists of four projects: (1) Weighing and Dispensing Area Upgrade, (2) DS Manufacturing Area Expansion, (3) Packaging Area Expansion, and (4) Microbiology Lab Relocation. A new weighing/dispensing/blending area within the existing warehouse and adjacent to the current Dietary Supplements manufacturing area. GMP spaces will be renovated for the installation of additional tablet compression and coating capacity. Existing idle packaging modules will be upgraded to support an increase in DS packaging.
Pfizer Barceloneta PNS Program
Program of projects to support Pfizer’s Plant Network Strategy (PNS) to increase the loading and utilization of the manufacturing sites by transferring select manufacturing and packaging operations. This program consists of two projects: B103 EU Compliance Upgrade and OEB 4/5 Manufacturing Facilities. The first project will modify the facility’s HVAC systems, personnel/material flows and architectural finishes. The second project will construct a high containment manufacturing area for solid dosage products including weighing/dispensing, blending and tablet compression functions.
