Riverview Medical Center is located in the center of Red Bank, New Jersey, on the banks of the Navesink River.  Torcon’s work at Riverview included interior renovations, new construction and a new three-level, 185-car parking garage. The project also featured extensive site upgrades that recast all interior roadways and parking lots, while maintaining normal hospital operations.

Two new entrances were added to the hospital under an ambitious recirculation plan that reoriented roadways at the front of the hospital. This reconfiguration also eliminated a public street, which became a new parking area.

Torcon segmented the project into seven distinct phases of construction and renovation. The initial phase primarily encompassed interior renovation on the fifth floor, including new HVAC and electrical service and new windows. Phase two consisted of foundations for a new three-story emergency department addition, as well as construction of a Linear Accelerator facility added to the hospital’s Booker Cancer Building, where patients receive support from diagnosis, to treatment, to home care. This phase also established a temporary emergency department ambulance entrance to allow for the construction of the replacement emergency department.

Phases three and four continued with new lobbies, construction of the two-story ED structure, major interior renovations, new building facades, canopies and site work.  Phase five included removal of the existing entrance canopy and additional exterior facade work.

At the completion of phases four and five, the new emergency department was opened and interior renovation continued through phases six and seven. This phase also involved the erection of the parking garage on the phase two foundation. Completion of the garage allowed the start of phase seven site work, reconfiguration of the existing parking lot in front of the hospital and the removal of Union Street.

At the completion of this work, Torcon returned to add a CyberKnife suite in a below-ground bunker.  It is one of the newest alternatives in cancer treatment, with only a handful of cancer centers offering it. Cyber Knife offers a revolutionary treatment alternative for patients with cancer and expands the treatment options available.
