Torcon was construction manager for the renovation and expansion of several existing buildings for Ferring’s new U. S. Operations Center project. 

The overall Focus Project encompassed a new $20 million headquarters office building, as well as a $10 million product development center and a $40 million state-of-the-art manufacturing suite. Torcon provided CM services for the headquarters and lab projects, and was part of an integrated design/build team for the process component of the project.

The new U. S. Operations Center houses 275 employees across management, administration, commercial operations, manufacturing and R&D. Under the project, interiors of two buildings were demolished to structure and then completely renovated. An expansive link was built to connect the two buildings at grade, to facilitate opportunities for collaboration across various operational disciplines.

Ferring’s new U.S. headquarters building is three levels, and includes a centralized, full-service kitchen and dining facility on the bottom floor. Due to the site’s grade change, this level is below ground at the main building entrance, but open to an outdoor dining area on the back.

The main floor of the building houses Ferring’s primary entrance lobby, a number of full featured conference rooms and staff offices. Most private offices are located at the core, to allow an abundance of sunlight to enter the open landscaped areas. Strategically-placed coffee bars are also located along the exterior walls with large seating areas. The building’s third floor also has both open and private offices, as well as the CEO’s suite with a visiting executive office and a private boardroom.
