mechanical estimator - NEW JERSEY

Torcon is seeking an individual with 7-10+ years of HVAC, Plumbing and Automatic Temperature Controls experience in the construction industry.  The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for providing detailed estimates based upon design development and construction documents with a desire to grow in the field to include Conceptual and Schematic level estimating.   The Mechanical Estimator must interface with other estimating disciplines as well as the other members of the Project Team, Subcontractors and Owner Representatives.  The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for all take-offs, pricing and producing the final Mechanical estimate to be incorporated into the final work product.     

Position Requirements:  

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technical/Design Education or equivalent estimating/trade experience
  • Must have experience with all aspects of mechanical estimating, including HVAC and Piping Systems, Plumbing, Process Piping, ATC Systems and Process Instrumentation
  • Red Bank, NJ based
  • Ability to work with Process P&ID drawings helpful
  • Knowledge of local Subcontractor Market
  • Must be personable and capable of direct client interaction
  • Well organized with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Subcontractor Project Management & Field Experience helpful but not required
  • Working skills with standard business software (MS Office Suite)
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel Must have a working knowledge of OST – On Screen Take-off and other related mechanical estimating tools or systems
  • Ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple assignments
  • Responsible for preparation and coordination of all aspects of Mechanical Estimates and lump sum bid management
  • Ability to generate take offs and detailed estimates for GMP/CM proposals, budgets and negotiated work with limited oversight by others
  • Ability to participate in Mechanical Estimating Effort on projects ranging in size from $5M to in excess of $100M in the public and private sectors
  • Work closely with Estimating Managers and Senior CSA Estimators in finalizing estimates.


Torcon has an exciting new opportunity for a Project Manager to join our growing Red Bank office.  The selected project manager will be involved in a range of healthcare, academic, and life science construction projects.

The Project Manager has direct responsibility for assigned projects, from preconstruction phase project development and planning to construction phase execution. Reporting directly to senior management, the Project Manager oversees budget management; development and management of all project documentation; subcontractor contract management; and project reporting, as well as regular communication with project staff, the design team and the customer.

Successful candidates will have 10-15 years of experience with a general contractor or construction management firm; an Engineering, Architecture, CM degree or equivalent education/experience; demonstrable experience in managing a range of healthcare, academic, and life science projects; and the ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple assignments.  Familiarity with Prolog, CMIC and Primavera tools is a plus.

Torcon is presenting a tremendous opportunity for a motivated, professional, team player to work as part of our health and safety staff on projects throughout New Jersey. The site safety manager has primary on-site responsibility working with the trades to organize jobs using safe practices. Tasks include THA analysis, worker orientation, safety training, continual assessment of projects, and record-keeping. The Site Safety Manager reports to Torcon's Corporate Safety Director. Assignment may involve a single project or multiple sites.


  • Minimum 7 years experience in construction safety management
  • Large-scale project experience
  • Safety oversight of multiple subcontractors
  • Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Able to read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • OSHA 30 Hour trained (500 certification a plus)
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and self-starter
  • Computer literacy (MS Office a minimum; BIM 360 a plus)
  • CSP, CHST, HAZWOPER certification a plus

Torcon is seeking Project Engineers with 3 to 7 years of experience in the construction industry.  The Project Engineer will be responsible for evaluation of submittals and RFI’s to support construction activities and resolution of design/field issues.  The Project Engineer must interact with field supervisors, owner representatives, and design professionals.
