Torcon Rallies Construction Community for Holiday Surprise

For years, Torcon has been an active participant in the resurgence of Camden. With many finished projects, as well as several active sites in the city, we believe there is new life and vibrancy embracing Camden.  Aside from construction and corporate growth in the area, the city’s rebirth has also been driven by many grassroots non-profits that have been stalwarts in the community for years.

Torcon is proud to have supported an outstanding initiative taking place in Camden this holiday season. Through Torcon’s work in the city, we were introduced to a man named Ray Jones, a graduate of Camden High and a 30 year retired police captain. While at a Camden High School alumni reunion, Ray and his classmates were inspired to band together to help their local community, just as they had been helped as children. In just three years, Ray’s non-profit, CHS 1979 & Associates, has grown to support education, quality of life and senior citizen causes throughout Camden, while also delivering thousands of Christmas presents to children in Camden.

This year, inspired by Ray and CHS&A’s work, Torcon and over a dozen of our subcontractors rallied together to support the annual holiday toy drive, pledging to make it the biggest gift giving to date. Through toy donations and monetary support, we led an incredibly successful drive and helped make the holidays a little bit brighter for the families of Camden.

Torcon commenced the week-long giving campaign by making a visit to a local day care facility in Camden with Santa Claus. The man of the season, accompanied by volunteers from Torcon and CHS&A, spread holiday cheer to the children at Respond Inc.– Pyne Poynt Preschool and Child Development Center with laughter and song. The kick-off toy delivery even garnered the attention of several local news stations, including 6abc and CBS3.

During this special time of year, we are reminded of the joys of life and those who we treasure most. On behalf of the team at Torcon, we would like to thank all of the subcontractors who helped in creating a memorable holiday for many of the members of the Camden community.
