    Torcon Celebrates 50th Anniversary

    Torcon was established as a general contracting business in August of 1965. Within ten years, Torcon added at-risk CM services, and by the time the company turned 20 years old, Torcon was one of the nation’s largest GC’s and CM’s. Fifty years of success was cause for celebration. Learn More

    20 Years with The Valley Hospital

    In 1996, Torcon began working at The Valley Hospital’s Ridgewood, New Jersey campus. Over the past twenty years, we’ve been actively working with Valley on a series of renovation and expansion projects at the main hospital and at several off-site locations. A 20-year relationship built on performance that continues to thrive today.

    Torcon Receives Diversity & Small Business Award

    Torcon was recognized by Bristol-Myers Squibb for “outstanding support of the BMS supplier diversity program” on several BMS projects. Torcon was honored at the BMS Global Procurement Supplier Conference for both innovative efforts and the overall contract volume awarded to small and diverse businesses.

    ENR’s Best of the Best

    Torcon was general contractor for Brookhaven National Laboratories’ National Synchrotron Light Source II facility, called NSLS-II. Torcon’s $200 million contract delivered the buildings and core systems for the $900 million project—including the main ring building, which is nearly a half-mile in circumference. ENR recognized the NSLS-II in its national Best of the Best awards program as top winner in the Higher Education/Research category. Learn More

    New Critical Care Tower Opens

    St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children opened its new Philadelphia facility in April. In addition to serving as the new main hospital entrance, the tower houses a new neonatal unit, as well as physical and occupational therapies, and a dental unit. Torcon was CM for the new 135,000 sq. ft. facility and for an on-campus community-focused primary care building, which was completed earlier. Learn More

    Work begins at Villanova University

    Ground was broken for a fast-paced, multi-phase program on Villanova’s campus. The project will build new student housing on a prime location on Lancaster Avenue. The initial phases of work added a parking structure and surface lot. The project will include University-operated, student-focused retail and a pedestrian walkway over Lancaster Avenue. Learn More

    Torcon Earns Safety Awards

    Nine different Torcon projects were recognized in the 88th Annual New Jersey Governor’s Occupational Safety & Awards program this year. The awards were presented to Torcon’s project team in regional ceremonies throughout the month of June and recognized the company’s achievements in the prevention of occupational injuries.

    Charter Schools in Camden

    Torcon was selected by Mastery Charter Schools to oversee the renovation of existing buildings at East Camden Middle School and McGraw Elementary School.

    Cooper University Operating Room Suites Completed

    Torcon was able to deliver four newly renovated and upgraded operating rooms at Cooper University Hospital, while maintaining full operations within the existing surgical suite. Through an intense program of off-hour renovation and phased construction, the new ORs, including two designed for robotic surgery, were turned over in July. Learn More

    Holly Pointe Commons Ready for Students

    A new 300,000 sq. ft. on-campus residence facility was built by Torcon at Rowan University, providing 1,400 student beds and a new dining facility. An aggressive 14-month construction schedule was implemented to open the building in time for the start of the fall semester. The Michaels Group’s University Student Living led the public-private partnership. Learn More

    Torcon Facilities Solutions expanded their services to support facility maintenance needs through the application of BIM technology with Autodesk Building Ops — a mobile-first asset and maintenance management solutions that helps dramatically improve the handover experience. Learn More

    Torcon completes another Solar Project

    Working with developer KDC Solar, Torcon completed a 3.9 megawatt DC ground-mounted solar facility on a twenty acre site in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. The project will provide more than 5 million kilowatt hours to Seabrook Village, a 98-acre retirement community owned by Erickson Living. Learn More

    Ben Torcivia, Jr. Receives Distinguished Citizen Award

    The Community YMCA in Monmouth County, New Jersey, presented Ben Torcivia, Jr. with the Distinguished Citizen Award at its annual awards dinner. Ben is Co-President of Torcon, Inc., and is a long-time member of the Community Y Board of Trustees. The award recognizes dedication to and support of the mission of the YMCA. This year’s dinner was among the most successful fundraisers in the event’s history. Learn More

    Torcon Renews Commitment to VPP

    OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Programs have been the foundation of Torcon’s safety program for more than 25 years. Our VPP success, which includes more than 20 VPP Stars and our participation in the prestigious VPP Mobile Workforce, is unmatched in the construction industry. Torcon hosted OSHA evaluation teams at both our Red Bank office (to recertify our headquarters VPP Star) and our University of Pennsylvania Stemmler Hall jobsite (to renew our acceptance in the VPP Mobile Workforce for Region III, Philadelphia District).     NJITs Wellness Center Reaches Milestone

    Construction is well underway on a new 200,000 sq. ft. athletic and events center at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, New Jersey. The steel topping-off ceremony was attended by many of the university’s athletes and coaches, who are anxious to use the 3,500-seat arena, indoor track, natatorium and multipurpose gyms. The facility will open in time for the Fall 2017 semester. Learn More

    Rowan Project Wins GBCA Award

    Torcon provided construction management services for a student housing facility at Rowan University that was recognized as the Best Concrete Contractor Project at GBCA's 2016 Construction Excellence Awards.

    TFS Selected for Projects in Atlanta

    The Winstead Group and the Children’s Hospital of Atlanta chose Torcon Facilities Solutions to implement a Building Ops program for two new hospital projects. TFS will ensure the construction phase design and construction BIM documents are consistent with the Hospital’s Facilities Management software requirements, and then establish the FM program for post-occupancy operations.

    Torcon to Build new Rutgers Engineering Facility

    Construction of the new Richard Weeks Hall of Engineering on the Busch Campus in Piscataway was awarded to Torcon. The 100,000 sq. ft. building will be home to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, providing offices, classrooms, laboratories and collaborative workspaces to promote interdisciplinary research.     Lehigh University’s Renovated Building LEED Gold

    Torcon's record with facilities certified under the USGBC LEED program encompasses a wide-range of uses, project types, and approaches to sustainability. The recently completed Williams Hall project at Lehigh represents the renovation of a 1903 lab building into a modern interdisciplinary academic office building. Extensive improvements to the building envelope and an overall interior demo/renovation, created a central spot for formal and informal student gatherings in the heart of the campus. Learn More
